Art and Animation

How to get in the job?
As most game art involves 3D graphics an understanding of the basic mathematical concepts involved is also often a prerequisite. Artists start off in junior roles and an important early decision is whether to specialise in 2D or 3D work. This could lead up to a higher standard by going on to a senior artist or a leading artist.

Training and Qualifications
To become qualified on being an artist in the games industry you must have a degree in an art subject, like fine art and graphic design. You must be able to have the ability to draw with fine skills.
Some artist works in different types of areas, like artist in the games industry could work in a 3D graphics design by making a character through software and designing on what the character looks like by showing your artist stills and your IT skills. And there’s a 2D design were you sketch on a paper by drawing that character and showing your art and design skills.

Salary
With a starting graduate artist animation their starting salary is up to £14,000 up to £17,500 and if you go up to a higher role and after the training and you actually got the job role, the artist and animation gets £20,000 to £32,000 per year.

Games Designer
Games designers are responsible for design the games and how it plays. They plan out and define all the components of a games and how it is set out. Like the rules, story, characters, the objects, interface design and modes of play.

What is the job about?
The games designers design the concept and vision a video game. They set out the story and characters and all of the other design in the game. This is what the designers do; they design the game on what it will look like. And the developers who created the game will test it out and see what are the bugs and faults on the game and if it’s okay they would release the game to the public.

There are no entry requirements for games design roles. But most new entrants to the industry are graduates. You might need a degree on art and design and there’s a number of games higher education courses some have arrangements for work placements.

Games designers work around 30 hours or more a week with their offices spending long periods sitting at a desk doing their job or attending meetings to talk about or explain the information about the game there making. With their salary around £18,000 up to £54,000 games designers has an average and good pay.
